Vintage Tube Amp

Filmosound open back 179 vintage style project. Empty unfinished open back pine head. Cabinet is 16” wide x 9” tall x 7-1/8. Chassis is not included. The front control panel is removable. These are sample photos similar to the cabinet you will recieve. Please let me know how you will be finishing this cabinet so I can make the proper space allowances for vynal covering, piping and grill fabric, or a natural finish and so forth. Please note : This cabinet will need further sanding and prep work prior to a natural finish. The vintage tube amp you see in the photos is not included. Is made of 1/2” birch plywood and the control. Opening is 8-1/4″ wide x 1-3/4” and sets back 5/16″. I take a lot of pride in every cabinet I build as you will see when you receive the cabinet. I do not stock any cabinets and I make them as the order comes in. I have fabricated thousands of cabinet and sell them all over the world. I do not have all the big overhead that these big companys have, thus I pass the savings on to you. All the cabinets I build are fabricated in my shop, one at a time, out of 3/4 pine that I select and assembled using strong beautiful halfblind dovetail glued joinery. On this cabinet, the front panel is made of 1/2 baltic birch. I then router the exterior corners so you can easily install standard corner protectors if you so choice. This amp circuit was originally built by At Mars, then I tweaked it a bit more and put it in the vintage ammo can. I have played this next to amps/circuits by all of the above builders and it totally hangs but with a unique voice. Comes with vintage/tested tubes.

This has been on the shelf in my warehouse for over 20 years. The tubes in photos are included. Nothing has been tested. Please see the many photos provided. This vintage MAGNATONE Tube Amp from 1958 is in good condition with some light wear and tear to the edges. The handle is broken. It has been tested and sounds great!

Very unique antique speaker box, unit is untested but in great condition! Looks to have been hand made! A real TV and stereo guru by the looks of it! Cool piece of American history and craftsmenship. Approximately 12 inches tall.

Up for sale, a 1957 Magnatone Custom 213 Troubadour in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original wooden “doorstop” footswitch and full vintage tube set from the likes of Amperex and RCA. An early example of this Troubadour model, the Custom 213 is fresh back from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with a clean bill of health. One of the cooler and less common mid-size Magna Electric-era Magnatone amps, the 213 boasts a single 12 alnico Oxford speaker, delivering 18 all tube watts. Whether you seek round, sparkling cleans or surprisingly thick overdrive, this Magnatone easily supplies a range of dynamic tube-driven textures. Of course one of the main draws of any Magnatone is the true pitch vibrato, and with a width and warble unequalled in tube amp design, this vibrato circuit is in a word lush. The point-to-point circuit boasts the original transformers (Thordarson power transformer, no definitive markings on the presumably Triad or Schumacher-made riveted-mounted output transformer), and the preamp retains many of the original signal caps with a few high quality tubular Jupiter “dynamite” caps used where needed. The original CTS pots are all intact, and a three-prong power cable has been installed. There is a small silver plug central to the faceplate (renaming the “Troubadour” to the Troubado) from a removed aftermarket mod. Tubes include Amperex and Thomas-branded valves in the preamp, with a pair of well-matched 6V6 power tubes and a coke bottle 5V4 rectifier. The original Oxford 12KR alnico magnet speaker has a very clean frame, with a bold date stamp from the 25th week of’57. The original model sticker is intact in the cabinet too. The original smooth brown leatherette covering is intact and incredibly clean, along with the wheat grillcloth and unique back panel, also with original grillcloth. The faceplate is in wonderful shape, complete with all of the original knobs. The leather handle is a modern replacement. This amp is fully serviced and ready to be played, complete with the original large wooden “doorstop” footswitch to engage the vibrato.

For sale is a Custom Kraft Fireball 600. I don’t know much about this amp but it sounds good. I’ve heard it’s based off a similar circuit as a Fender Champ from that time period. Seems to be mostly original. Some capacitors look to have been replaced. Works as it should.

All tubes included as shown. It comes apart, the bottom is the amplifier that you connect a guitar, microphone or AUX into. The top separates and becomes the speaker. It has a long 1/4 cable attached directly to the speaker, and once you are ready to play, you plug that speaker cable into the tube amplifer. I did connect to a bluetooth receiver, through an aux input. It fires up and sound came through! It is rather loud for a dual 6V6 amplifier. Very scratchy as the controls will need to be de-oxed and cleaned up. Capacitors appear original, however no loud humming. BUT of course please plan on a complete recap. I did not check the tubes, although they all appear working, and it does sound decent when the controls are seated. I did unplug the 6V6 tubes to check them out visually. The keys are missing on the bottom, but the arrow points clearly to how they should be inserted. You can use, or replace the tubes as is. The long speaker cable is frayed in many places, plan on replacing. Easy project to get this back to top shape. Be the only kid on your block! Chassis 20″ x 14″ x 12 unpacked.

The dust cover is intended for the Dynakit ST-70 amplifier. Dynakit chassis dimensions – 13″ x 9.5″ base. Dust Cover Dimensions – 13.5″ x 10″ base 7″ height 3/16″ think acrylic. Dust Cover Specifications. 90 degree edge sides. Usage – Don’t run the tube amplifier with the cover on as it will trap the heat that may damage your amp, cover or both. Manufacturing – This dust cover will be hand made by A&B Plastics fabrication located in south Texas. The cover will be made from 3/16 thick acrylic. This is shown in the last three pictures of the post. When removing the paper there will be some slight dust and debris that will need to be wiped off. The dust cover will be very securely packaged and will arrive free of any scratches.
