A vintage tube amplifier from what I believe is a Guild New Englander console stereo! The tube amp doesn’t have all of its tubes but there are some here. Comes with the pictured model 630 reverb amplifier as well. Both amps are untested. Some wiring is cut. There are a few tubes here, but a few are missing. There are scuffs, scratches, and stains scattered about. The metal base on the reverb amp is pretty bent. Will come as shown, so please see photos! Carrier available to your zip code than what is listed first. The “not as described” return option is not to be used to resolve damaged item cases.
Dual Showman Reverb TFL 5000 D. Electric Guitar Amplifier Head. Sacramento’s own madman boutique amp builder Mike McCormack of Mack Electronics, had to start somewhere with his creations and one place he started was with some of my amplifiers. What he intended to do was build a Fender equivalent Sunn Model T with four 6550′s power tubes in a Fender Showman chassis. This amplifier he created he nicknamed “The Beast” because it’s so loud and powerful. What he was able to do in this project was retain the original transformers without having to upgrade them. His circuitry is HEAVILY modified with extra heavy filter caps and interior switching. He added an effects loop with send and return jacks. He eliminated the reverb circuit but retained the vibrato. We have 3 jacks that are covering the serial number and we are not sure what they are connected to. He added a blue power light and a lot of labels. The original baffle board was made of particle board and was very heavy so Mojo Musical Supply built for me a more lightweight custom grille which afforded better ventilation. Around 1970 they stopped using slide brackets to mount amplifier heads to the speaker cabinets. Fender then just used these larger speaker cabinet mounting bolts as seen here. The filter cap pan does not fit over the filter caps anymore but is also not necessary because the filtration is more than adequate and these Sprague caps that he used won’t leak like the Mallory caps that Fender used back in the day. Recently (Jan 2025) I took this to my current amp tech and he says this amp is “over the top”, very loud, powerful and is very well designed and put together. He went over it, powered for an hour, played it and lubricated the pots. (37th week of 1970). (34th week of 1970). It might serve the buyers purpose to bring up the power slowly with a variac since these used amp heads are over 50 years old and have not been used for a few decades. Our amp tech has only replaced the needed parts -(filter caps & power cords as specified) to just get them turned on and running for an hour. Please see a skilled amp tech before extended use. The operation of the amps requires that they be regularly serviced for optimal performance. Please remember these are vintage pieces, we cannot guarantee that they will not need service or more parts in their future; only some obvious parts were changed to get it working. Most of the parts are still the original old parts remaining which will be stated in our listings. We do not have any control on what was done by previous owners, but we try to write in detail any information we have. We cannot guarantee that all our information is 100% correct; it is our humble opinions and own musical knowledge. Please see photos and ask questions to make your own assessment. Up for sale, a 1972 Guyatone Reverb Jazz GA-1050 2×12 combo amp, freshly serviced and in excellent condition. Produced during the “lawsuit” era of Japanese guitar/amplifier production, this Guyatone combo is an extremely faithful copy of a Silverface Fender Pro Reverb, complete with “drip edge”-style aluminum trim. Loaded with a pair of EHX 6L6 power tubes and the original pair of “wideband type” Japanese-made alnico speakers, this Guyatone delivers glassy, balanced cleans very much in the vein of a Pro Reverb, with smooth, lightly compressed overdrive when pushing the amp towards 10 on the Volume dial. The Reverb Jazz GA-1050 features a dual-channel, dual-input design, with footswitchable Reverb and Tremolo on Channel Two. The amp retains all of its original transformers, and the power transformer has taps for both 100v and 117v operation, with a voltage switch on the back of the chassis. The original Japanese TBM pots are all present as well, with visible date codes from the 43rd week of 1972. Freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this amp has been fully recapped to ensure ideal performance. All component voltages have been tested to ensure optimal functionality, and additional maintenance includes spraying out all pots and tensioning tube sockets. The original two-prong power cable is present, and a three-prong can be installed at no charge at the next owner’s discretion. Beyond the Electro-Harmonix 6L6 power tubes, the amp features all vintage Japanese-branded preamp tubes (likely original to the amp). Fender-style cosmetic touches include smooth black tolex, silver sparkle grillcloth with “drip edge” aluminum trim, a “Silverface” faceplate with turquoise silkscreen graphics, and a raised Guytatone badge. There is only light wear on the tolex and modest darkening of the grillcloth. Hardware includes the tilt-back legs, casters, and “Rhythm Machine” serial badge (72-prefix serial translates to’72 production).
Electric Guitar / Steel Guitar. Rumor has it that the Motor City Madman himself, Ted Nugent, challenged CBS’s amp designer, Ed Jahns to increase the power of a Twin Reverb using a typical 2 12 inch speaker cabinet. This is at a time when competition from other manufacturers such as Marshall, Hiwatt, and Mesa Boogie were building more and more powerful amps, and Ed wanted to top them all. He also developed the most comprehensive equalizer tone section that’s been in any Fender amp. This amp has power to spare and was so powerful that Ted Nugent only needed six of them (with Dual Showman speaker cabinets for a concert). This amp is serious business because it is so loud and clean at 180 watts. Steel guitar players are very fond of this amp design. The one and only drawback of the. The compact amp in a typical Twin Reverb cabinet, is the ridiculous heavy weight added by it’s speakers with oversized magnet structure. The only thing that makes sense to me now is cutting the cabinet down to a head so you have the flexibility of use with other speaker cabinets and transportation. We had our cabinet builder cut the amp down and we preserved the reverb spring unit, footswitch, and the tube chart. This amp is still complete with out speakers. This amp is now a more reasonable approx. Recently (July 2024) I took it to my current amp tech and he replaced the filter caps, pilot light, powered it for an hour and checked operation. He says it’s now in great shape. The reverb “tray” or “tank” or “spring unit” is located where Fender originally had it installed – on the inside bottom of the cabinet. Our cabinet builder has left enough space for it to fit. The reason why we don’t “install” the reverb tank (screw it down inside the cabinet) is so the user can position it how they want it, to the right side of the cabinet away from the tubes or even outside of the cabinet itself since it has about 18inches of cable connecting to the back of the amp chassis. Only the original cabinet has been shortened in height – speakers have been removed – everything else is located where it’s always been including the foot-switch. By turning these amps to heads, they can now be used for ANY amplification needs! Public address, bass, electric piano, organ, accordion, guitar, harmonica, steel guitar.. This platform makes an excellent bass amp paired with a suitable cabinet (4 ohm or greater)- complete flexibility and much more convenient with its increased portability. Chassis Black Ink Side Stamp. (19th week of 1976). (10th week of 1977). (34th week of 1976). The Fender Princeton Reverb is one of the crown jewels of mid-’60s and 70′s combo amps. This classic amp added a tube-driven reverb circuit to the popular Princeton student combo, and has been among the most widely used recording amps since its introduction in 1964. 12 to 15 watts of power from a pair of 6V6GT tubes can be fairly clean, or can push the speaker into submission with an absolutely perfect, tight drive sound. The reverb is luscious and mates well with the tremolo circuit to bring some ambience to the sound that truly cannot be emulated with any kind of modern stomp box. This has had all the modern maintenance done professionally with a fresh bill of health from our tech team. Caps and resistors have been upgraded, the 2-prong cable has been upgraded to 3-prong (for safety purposes), the speaker has been upgraded to an alnico 12 speaker (very light weight with a glorious sound), and tubes have been carefully selected to give this amp an unrivaled sonic presence. In the V1 position we have placed an RCA 1950′s long black plate 12ax7 which we believe to be the perfect tube for its soundscape. I would highly encourage using a BrownBox or similar voltage reducer to protect this amp from the modern wall voltages. It truly preserves the tone and ensures the life of the components. The rarity of this early model make this one a great find. Please view my other listings for more vintage Fender amps. Please view all photos as they are a part of this amp’s description.
This is a Vintage 1967 Silvertone Model 1484 Twin Twelve 2×12 Guitar Combo head and cabinet. Silvertone was a trade name of the Sears, Co. This amp was made in the USA by Danelectro. Date was determined by the codes on the two matching original Jensen C12Q speakers (220708) and pot codes (1376701). All the tubes are branded Silvertone and original to the amp with one exception. One of the 12AX7 tubes is a Silvertone from my personal stash. The three preamp 12AX7′s are made in Holland, so Bugle Boy Aperex tubes branded Silvertone? All USA, and HOLLAND made tubes, that test strong on my Hickok 6000a tube tester. This amp is nicer than most of the 1484′s I see for sale. TREMOLO and REVERB, BOTH WORK. The speakers have been professionally reconed and probably do not have 10 hours of play time on them. One of the tube sockets has been replaced (reverb driver). This thing sounds incredible. EVERYTHING works and it includes the footswitch. Clean controls, no scratchy pots. The reverb is just as wild and wacky as everyone says about it. AND YOU GET TO HEAR IT FOR YOURSELF. This amp is so original, the speaker cord is still attached to both the head and cab. That is the first and last time it was serviced. This is an attic find that cleaned up very nicely. There is evidence of deterioration, but for the most part well preserved. Please look at the pictures for condition. Normal aging and patina. One of the knobs has a chip. You can take this out to play a gig the day you get it. As a basic test I have operated this amp for at least 4 hours recently and it did not fail, smoke, throw sparks, blow fuses, start on fire, etc. Old electronics are scratched, worn, chipped, cracked, dirty, dusty, stained, ugly, tinkered with, missing parts, etc. The exteriors have wear that includes cuts, holes, tears, scuffs, missing stitching, missing or replaced feet, handles, knobs. In the course of servicing over the years, they typically do not have all original components. Old electronics typically hum and have scratchy controls. Old electronics can fail at any time. This is part of my estate. LOOK AT ALL MY LISTINGS!!! The following is common sense stuff, but needs mentioned. You should not have to live with something you are unhappy with for any reason. If you alter, modify, change or “repair” the item in anyway without my consent, you are accepting the item “as is”, at the price paid. We will work through the claim together until things are right.
