Up for sale, a 1971 Fender Vibrolux Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a vintage tube set and two-button footswitch. Clean, original and freshly serviced, this Vibrolux is stage and studio ready, loaded with a bevy of vintage tubes including a pair of Phillips-branded 6L6 power tubes. With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender models for its ideal size and power, well-suited to both stage and studio applications. The amp delivers sparkling cut and muscle, and a surprising amount of headroom, cascading into lightly compressed tube overdrive when pushing towards 10 on the Volume dial. Offering 35 tube watts through the original Oxford 10L5 ceramic magnet 10 speaker pair, the Vibrolux is the perfect platform for getting the most out of a variety of guitars and stompboxes. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has clear note attack and sweet tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube-driven Reverb and percussive Tremolo. All of the transformers are manufactured by Fender’s primary transformer supplier in this era, Schumacher, with source date codes from 1971. The preamp is 100% original save for two capacitors in the bias section, all of the original CTS pots are intact, and the chassis stamp reads Sept 16th, 1971. The power supply has also been professionally recapped with high quality F&Ts, and a three-prong power cable has been installed. Given a full checkup by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, all pots, switches, jacks and tube sockets have been thoroughly cleaned. The tube complement includes a pair of Phillips-branded 6L6 power tubes, an RCA 5U4 rectifier, and nearly all of the original Phillips-branded tubes in the preamp. The Oxford 10L5 ceramic magnet 10 speakers are the original matched pair with black frames and blue Fender foil stickers on the ceramic magnets. The stickers on the edges of the frames are dated to the 21st week of’71. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet as well. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe are intact, with only very light wear on the enclosure edges. Original hardware includes the handle caps, chassis straps, corners, sphinx glides (feet) and raised logo. The faceplate is particularly well-kept with a full complement of witch hat knobs. The original two-button footswitch is included.

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Twin Reverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Victoria Luggage cover, Fender catalog, and two-button footswitch. A nearly dead stock and minimally serviced example with a full vintage tube set, this Twin’s condition is all the more uncommon given its size. While Fender’s smaller combos of the era can occasionally be found in pristine shape, it’s significantly rarer to find Fender’s gig-worthy large combos (which generally saw much rougher usage) as well-kept as this example. This Twin delivers warm, articulate cleans with ample bass response, a wide-ranging and responsive EQ, and present, sparkling Fender top end. When it comes to the quintessential Black Panel Fender amp for clarity, headroom, and the balanced, authoritative response of a four 6L6 driven tube amp, it’s hard to beat the Twin. The tube-driven Reverb effect has incredible depth and splash, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with a wide range of speeds. It’s as iconic a design as Leo Fender ever created, also very well-suited to amplifying pedal steel or electric piano in the vein of a Wurlitzer or Fender Rhodes. The circuit is extremely straight, retaining all of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors, a key part of the sweet, musical character of the Black Panel-era preamps. All of the original Schumacher-made transformers are intact, with date codes spanning mid-1966 to early’67. The original CTS pots have visible date codes from the 38th week of’66. The amp has a single new electrolytic capacitor in the preamp along with a new bias capacitor. Even the stock power supply caps are still intact and viable. The power tubes comprise three Sylvanias and a closely matched Fender-branded 6L6 with the same construction. The preamp features RCA, Amperex and GE-branded valves. The speakers are the original pair of Fender-branded Jensen C12Ns with clean black frames. The most popular (and relatively uncommon) vintage speaker option offered in the Black Panel era Twin, these Jensens offer excellent headroom, clarity and detail. The tube chart is clean and fully intact, with an “QD” date stamp that translates to April of 1967. The original black tolex is exceptionally clean, and the silver sparkle grillcloth shows minimal wear and modest darkening. The faceplate is notably well-kept, retaining a full complement of original witch hat knobs. All of the original hardware is present, including the chrome tilt back legs, nickel corners, sphinx glides, handle, and raised Fender logo on the amp’s face. The original two-button footswitch is included, along with the original Victoria Luggage-branded slip cover and the factory paperwork comprising the full color Fender catalog and a pair of schematics.

Everything on this amp works flawlessly. I replaced the torn tolex shortly after receiving it and replaced a capacitor in 07. I recently had the VIB switch in the footswitch replaced. Grill cloth is as I received it (probably original). On the tube sticker inside the cab, (See pics), I question the tale of the letter “Q”. It almost appears to be a squiggly line through what may be the letter “O”. “Q” would indicate the year 1967. “O” would indicate the year 1965. Chassis #A 00152 indicates 1964. Transformer #606343 Indicates 1963. Far and away, the outstanding feature of this amp is the Celestion G12 Vintage 30 speakers made on Foxhall Rd. These speakers came with the amp when I acquired it. These speakers are highly efficient and slightly louder than most. It is located here in southern, Colorado. If you ever dreamed of what a vintage Fender amp would sound like through vintage Celestion speakers, your dream is here, now. Vinyl cover is included.

Up for sale, a 1965 Flot-A-Tone Model 600 1×12 combo amp, near-mint and in perfect working order, outfitted with a complete vintage tube set. Distributed by the Lo Duca brothers (best known for the EKO line of guitars), these hand-wired amps failed to establish a strong foothold in the industry during the company’s lifetime, but they’ve since garnered a devoted following due to their association with legendary tone purists Ry Cooder and G. This Model 600 was one of the final Flot-A-Tone amps ever produced, crafted in the second to last month of production and featuring a dual-channel, dual-input design. This particular Model 600 is also notable for boasting a rare Reverb circuit, a non-standard modification to the platform made at the factory to the final Flot-A-Tones produced and seen on sparingly few examples. Flot-A-Tone amps are renowned for their robust Tweed-style tone, and this Model 600 is warm, thick, and harmonic complex, pushing roughly 25 watts. While the cleans are smooth and atmospheric, cranked up the amp cascades into creamy breakup. The two channels offer marginal differences in power and overall bite: Channel 2 has a rounded punch, while Channel 1 has a dynamic, touch-sensitive dimensionality and a hair more clean headroom. The Tremolo is very musical and natural, subtle for most of the range and getting into wonderfully thick pulsations towards the limits of the Speed and Intensity controls with a pronounced vocal-like effect that is unique to Flot-A-Tone amplifiers. The Reverb has a nice splashy quality, tube-driven with a full-length two-spring tank. The circuit is largely original and professionally serviced, with a number of modern electrolytics and a few Sprague Orange Drops as well. The original Centralab pots date to 1965, and the original transformers are present. The tube complement comprises a pair of RCA 6L6 power tubes, with vintage valves from RCA and General Electric in the preamp. The original Jensen Concert EM1202 (C12N) 12 speaker is present, professionally reconed, and the date stamp on the edge of the frame translates to the 18th week of 1965. Cosmetic touches include black tolex, wheat grillcloth, white piping and a rare “Reverb” badge. There are only a few minor marks on the enclosure, and the chrome-plated faceplate is in great shape with clean white silkscreened lettering.

The circuit is 100% original save for one capacitor, and all of the transformers are manufactured by Fender’s primary transformer supplier in this era, Schumacher, dating between late 1975 and early’76. Fully serviced, all pots, switches, jacks and tube sockets have been thoroughly cleaned, and even the original power supply caps are still viable. The preamp retains a full complement of original blue molded caps, and all of the original CTS pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 39th week of’75. The tubes are largely vintage, with a matched pair of Sylvania 6L6 power tubes and Fender-branded RCA-made valves in the preamp. The CTS alnico magnet 10 speakers are the original matched pair with black frames and (faded) blue Fender foil stickers on the alnico magnets. The date stamps on the edges of the frames are from the 22nd week of’76. These are also the same speakers seen in Super Reverbs of the era. The tube chart is intact inside the cabinet as well. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with orange stripe are intact and extremely clean, with uniform darkening of the cloth. The hardware shows light surface patina on the original handle caps, chassis straps, corners, and sphinx glides (feet). The faceplate is also particularly well-kept with a full complement of witch hat knobs. The original two-button footswitch is included.

1962 Gibson GA-79RV Vintage Stereo Tube Amp 2x10 with Reverb, Footswitch

Up for sale, a 1962 Gibson GA-79RV in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original footswitch. A true stereo affair, the GA-79RV features a V front cabinet with two 20 watt channels pushing individual 10 Jensen ceramic magnet speakers. The quad of 6BQ5 (EL84) power tubes deliver a healthy 40 watts of all tube power when run in mono, and these tubes have a crystalline top end and heavenly overdrive, delivering a distinctly Vox-esque sizzle and roar when diming out the circuit. The cleans are snappy and clear too, with appropriate headroom before the circuit cascades into touch-sensitive bite and crunch. Exclusive to Channel 1, the tube-driven Reverb is lush and splashy, and given the stereo operation, the GA-79RV also offers the unique opportunity to mix the effected signal of Channel 1 with the dry signal of Channel 2, with a distinctive cabinet design that fills a room with dimensional tube tone. The circuit has been freshly and professionally serviced, with original transformers and a recap of the power supply with F&T capacitors. The tidy tag board circuit features a bevy of original carbon comp resistors and molded signal caps, and the CentraLab pots have visible date codes from the 38th week of’61. The vertically mounted reverb tank has a date stamp from the 2nd week of’62. The tube complement includes a modern quartet of Sovtek EL84 power tubes, with all vintage valves from the likes of RCA and GE in the preamp. The chrome-plated faceplate has plenty of shine, with all of the original black silkscreened text intact as well as all of the knobs. The speakers have been replaced with a modern pair of Jensen C10Q ceramic magnet 10 drivers. The original footswitch is included too and hard-wired, allowing easy activation of the Reverb, and fitting in its original metal bracket for transport central to the lower back panel. The original textured dark gray tolex and wheat grillcloth are extremely clean, and particularly notable, the entire original plastic Gibson badge is intact central to the face of the amp (a true rarity).

Vintage mid 1970s Fender Vibrolux Reverb 1×12 tube guitar amp that has been fully serviced and sounds incredible. This amp was likely modified early on to the 1×12 configuration. There is a hole in the side of the amp that’s been covered with a wire grill and has no legs or back plates. This is not a museum piece and has had its share of work done over the years but it sounds phenomenal and is sure to be reliable for years to come. Definitely a one of a kind amplifier that not many will be able to match the tone of. I regret having to sell this but times are tough.
