Vintage 72′ twin reverb with all parts.

VINTAGE 1975 FENDER SUPER TWIN GUITAR AMP PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED. This super twin amp does not have a reverb feature. The super twin has more power than a regular twin. I bought this amp in 1983 and never used it professionally. Does have some tape residue on the back. Comes with original cover that has wear and splits. The speakers are original. On the back it says it has 180 watts at 4 ohms. See pic of invoice. A full set of new capacitors and 3 new tubes were installed. The standby switch was replaced. The polarity switch has been bypassed now. The last pic shows all of the old components that were replaced. The amp now works perfectly. I bought this from a store on South Street in Philadelphia in the 1980′s. The serial number sticker is missing. It was that way when I bought it. It weighs 90 pounds. It must be picked up in person. Here’s a really cool tube amplifier. It has mic (or guitar) level input and also line-level input. The phono-plug mic-level input has sensitivity 0.02 V for full output and the RCA line-level input has sensitivity 0.3 V for full output. A two way speaker system in the front which sounds awesome and is really fantastic with a vintage microphone. There’s certainly some potential here for a busking guitar amp or a harmonica amp. All the electrolytics were replaced with F&T or other high quality replacements, Coupling capacitors were replaced as well. No more leaky drifting wax caps. They are well testing vintage tubes. A 6X4 Rectifier, 6V6 Power tube and 12AX7. It operates without issues. Its been brought up to electrical safety standard with a grounded AC cable and a fuse holder was added. These were not fused from the factory. It’s sure to leave you with a repair bill soon after.

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Twin Reverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Victoria Luggage cover, Fender catalog, and two-button footswitch. A nearly dead stock and minimally serviced example with a full vintage tube set, this Twin’s condition is all the more uncommon given its size. While Fender’s smaller combos of the era can occasionally be found in pristine shape, it’s significantly rarer to find Fender’s gig-worthy large combos (which generally saw much rougher usage) as well-kept as this example. This Twin delivers warm, articulate cleans with ample bass response, a wide-ranging and responsive EQ, and present, sparkling Fender top end. When it comes to the quintessential Black Panel Fender amp for clarity, headroom, and the balanced, authoritative response of a four 6L6 driven tube amp, it’s hard to beat the Twin. The tube-driven Reverb effect has incredible depth and splash, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with a wide range of speeds. It’s as iconic a design as Leo Fender ever created, also very well-suited to amplifying pedal steel or electric piano in the vein of a Wurlitzer or Fender Rhodes. The circuit is extremely straight, retaining all of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors, a key part of the sweet, musical character of the Black Panel-era preamps. All of the original Schumacher-made transformers are intact, with date codes spanning mid-1966 to early’67. The original CTS pots have visible date codes from the 38th week of’66. The amp has a single new electrolytic capacitor in the preamp along with a new bias capacitor. Even the stock power supply caps are still intact and viable. The power tubes comprise three Sylvanias and a closely matched Fender-branded 6L6 with the same construction. The preamp features RCA, Amperex and GE-branded valves. The speakers are the original pair of Fender-branded Jensen C12Ns with clean black frames. The most popular (and relatively uncommon) vintage speaker option offered in the Black Panel era Twin, these Jensens offer excellent headroom, clarity and detail. The tube chart is clean and fully intact, with an “QD” date stamp that translates to April of 1967. The original black tolex is exceptionally clean, and the silver sparkle grillcloth shows minimal wear and modest darkening. The faceplate is notably well-kept, retaining a full complement of original witch hat knobs. All of the original hardware is present, including the chrome tilt back legs, nickel corners, sphinx glides, handle, and raised Fender logo on the amp’s face. The original two-button footswitch is included, along with the original Victoria Luggage-branded slip cover and the factory paperwork comprising the full color Fender catalog and a pair of schematics.

Everything on this amp works flawlessly. I replaced the torn tolex shortly after receiving it and replaced a capacitor in 07. I recently had the VIB switch in the footswitch replaced. Grill cloth is as I received it (probably original). On the tube sticker inside the cab, (See pics), I question the tale of the letter “Q”. It almost appears to be a squiggly line through what may be the letter “O”. “Q” would indicate the year 1967. “O” would indicate the year 1965. Chassis #A 00152 indicates 1964. Transformer #606343 Indicates 1963. Far and away, the outstanding feature of this amp is the Celestion G12 Vintage 30 speakers made on Foxhall Rd. These speakers came with the amp when I acquired it. These speakers are highly efficient and slightly louder than most. It is located here in southern, Colorado. Electric Guitar / Steel Guitar. Rumor has it that the Motor City Madman himself, Ted Nugent, challenged CBS’s amp designer, Ed Jahns to increase the power of a Twin Reverb using a typical 2 12 inch speaker cabinet. This is at a time when competition from other manufacturers such as Marshall, Hiwatt, and Mesa Boogie were building more and more powerful amps, and Ed wanted to top them all. He also developed the most comprehensive equalizer tone section that’s been in any Fender amp. This amp has power to spare and was so powerful that Ted Nugent only needed six of them (with Dual Showman speaker cabinets for a concert). This amp is serious business because it is so loud and clean at 180 watts. Steel guitar players are very fond of this amp design. The one and only drawback of the. The compact amp in a typical Twin Reverb cabinet, is the ridiculous heavy weight added by it’s speakers with oversized magnet structure. The only thing that makes sense to me now is cutting the cabinet down to a head so you have the flexibility of use with other speaker cabinets and transportation. We had our cabinet builder cut the amp down and we preserved the reverb spring unit, footswitch, and the tube chart. This amp is still complete with out speakers. This amp is now a more reasonable approx. Recently (July 2024) I took it to my current amp tech and he replaced the filter caps, pilot light, powered it for an hour and checked operation. He says it’s now in great shape. The reverb “tray” or “tank” or “spring unit” is located where Fender originally had it installed – on the inside bottom of the cabinet. Our cabinet builder has left enough space for it to fit. The reason why we don’t “install” the reverb tank (screw it down inside the cabinet) is so the user can position it how they want it, to the right side of the cabinet away from the tubes or even outside of the cabinet itself since it has about 18inches of cable connecting to the back of the amp chassis. Only the original cabinet has been shortened in height – speakers have been removed – everything else is located where it’s always been including the foot-switch. By turning these amps to heads, they can now be used for ANY amplification needs! Public address, bass, electric piano, organ, accordion, guitar, harmonica, steel guitar.. This platform makes an excellent bass amp paired with a suitable cabinet (4 ohm or greater)- complete flexibility and much more convenient with its increased portability. It might serve the buyers purpose to bring up the power slowly with a variac since these used amp heads are over 50 years old and have not been used for a few decades. Our amp tech has only replaced the needed parts -(filter caps & power cords as specified) to just get them turned on and running for an hour. Please see a skilled amp tech before extended use. This is a Vintage 1967 Silvertone Model 1484 Twin Twelve 2×12 Guitar Combo head and cabinet. Silvertone was a trade name of the Sears, Co. This amp was made in the USA by Danelectro. Date was determined by the codes on the two matching original Jensen C12Q speakers (220708) and pot codes (1376701). All the tubes are branded Silvertone and original to the amp with one exception. One of the 12AX7 tubes is a Silvertone from my personal stash. The three preamp 12AX7′s are made in Holland, so Bugle Boy Aperex tubes branded Silvertone? All USA, and HOLLAND made tubes, that test strong on my Hickok 6000a tube tester. This amp is nicer than most of the 1484′s I see for sale. TREMOLO and REVERB, BOTH WORK. The speakers have been professionally reconed and probably do not have 10 hours of play time on them. One of the tube sockets has been replaced (reverb driver). This thing sounds incredible. EVERYTHING works and it includes the footswitch. Clean controls, no scratchy pots. The reverb is just as wild and wacky as everyone says about it. AND YOU GET TO HEAR IT FOR YOURSELF. This amp is so original, the speaker cord is still attached to both the head and cab. That is the first and last time it was serviced. This is an attic find that cleaned up very nicely. There is evidence of deterioration, but for the most part well preserved. Please look at the pictures for condition. Normal aging and patina. One of the knobs has a chip. You can take this out to play a gig the day you get it. As a basic test I have operated this amp for at least 4 hours recently and it did not fail, smoke, throw sparks, blow fuses, start on fire, etc. Old electronics are scratched, worn, chipped, cracked, dirty, dusty, stained, ugly, tinkered with, missing parts, etc. The exteriors have wear that includes cuts, holes, tears, scuffs, missing stitching, missing or replaced feet, handles, knobs. In the course of servicing over the years, they typically do not have all original components. Old electronics typically hum and have scratchy controls. Old electronics can fail at any time. This is part of my estate. LOOK AT ALL MY LISTINGS!!! The following is common sense stuff, but needs mentioned. You should not have to live with something you are unhappy with for any reason. If you alter, modify, change or “repair” the item in anyway without my consent, you are accepting the item “as is”, at the price paid. We will work through the claim together until things are right.

Up for sale, a 1958 Fender “High Power” Tweed Twin 5F8-A in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Twin features a very original circuit, rehoused in an replica speaker cabinet and loaded with a pair of era-correct Jensen P12N alnico magnet speakers. Occupying a very narrow window in Fender’s golden age, the 5F8-A Twin was the pinnacle of Tweed era evolution and unmatched in power and headroom, first available in late 1957 and retired by January, 1960. This example was made in January of’58, and the “High Power” iteration of the Twin is arguably the most highly sought after vintage Fender amp ever produced. A whole different animal than the “Low Power” iteration offered through most of the’50s, the High Power 5F8-A pushes 85 watts via a matched quad of 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes with a single GZ34 rectifier. Essentially the same animal as the 5F6-A Bassman, yet with four power tubes, more massive transformers and a 2×12 speaker configuration, the 5F8-A Twin has all the hallmarks of its Bassman brother, with a Mid control and four-input design, allowing both greater tailoring of the tone and the ability to jumper the channels for additional interactivity and gain. Incredible headroom, touch-sensitivity and rich, textured growl are hallmarks of this Twin. The trebles bite, yet with a smooth, harmonically-rich character, the midrange is gutsy, and the low end is broad and focused, with notable depth that interacts famously with a broad range of pickups. The circuit retains its original Triad transformers, and all of the original yellow Astron capacitors are intact in the preamp. The smaller electrolytics in the preamp have been upgraded with high quality Spragues, and the power supply has been recapped with Spragues as well. All of the original pots are present, and two additional 1/4 jacks have been added to the righthand side of the chassis. The inside of the chassis retains its “HA” date stamp from January of 1958. The tube complement includes a matched quad of Mesa-branded power tubes, with a Ruby rectifier and a couple vintage preamp tubes from the likes of Telefunken and Westinghouse. The speakers are a matched pair of vintage Jensen P12Ns with clean dark green frames and date stamps from’62. The cabinet is a modern replacement, faithfully replicating the materials and size of the original. The faceplate retains its bright chrome plating, and some of the original white silkscreen text is still present, along with all of the chicken head knobs.

I have not recently serviced it so you may want your tech to do a good cleanup of the electronics for perfect performance. JBL speakers sound good but the left one had a slight buzz, I took to a friend of mine – he said the dust cap was loose and he put a. Tiny bead of speaker glue around the edge of it – it seems to have helped it out but you may need to eventually re-cone that speaker. Original Red plug power cord. See all pictures for condition.
