Here’s an old Newcomb 4 speed record player that uses a tube amp. As you can see in the video, it’s in “working condition”, but what does THAT, really mean? Let’s take a look! Yes, the turntable turns and it plays music, BUT the variable speed control, again, works but may be a bit slow at max speed. The amp seems to be working “OK”, but there’s a minor hum so you should re cap at least the filters. I have no idea the exact condition of the 2 needles, but that was a 33 1/3 you heard playing, and the flip over 78 RPM needle is also there. I’m SURE there are some other adjustments, etc, that will need to be done on this unit. Cosmetically, it could use some detailing (AKA cleaning) inside and out. The hardware could use a really good wire brushing to get rid of the surface rust. There are probably a few cleaner ones out there that may turn up someday, but plenty more are worse off. At least you know, for starters, anyway, this one wants to work! It may or may not work at all when you get it!
Really good sounding National 51. Everything looks original except for the tubes. The amp doesn’t have a real high volume unless you add a overdrive to it. The video is of the amp cranked up as high as it will go without any extra fx. I used a Fender Strat to play through the National. Video was made with just a simple cheep camera. I’ve remove all glass tubes and pre packed this amp very good for safe travels.
Vintage 1951 National Valco Tube Amplifier Amp 51 Chicago Gold Label. I have owned it for many years and now it’s time for someone else to enjoy. Senior citizen, non-smoker owned. Made in 1951, Chicago, Illinois, USA. Serial Number Metal Tag: X367, very low serial number range. Model: National Valco 51, with gold emblem logo on the front. Features: on/off toggle switch, fuse holder, bass/treble tone dial, volume low/high dial, and 3 instrument inputs. Speaker: 10 speaker, stamped 550-3 on the magnet, 6823 on the metal frame, and 41H800 on the actual speaker. Check out the attached video for a quick sound clip. Video with audio was done at the restoration shop after recent work was completed. Sounds even better in person! ELECTRONICS: The amplifier has been professionally restored electronically, (to original specifications as possible), including new tubes and a 10′ grounded 3-prong plug that replaced the brittle original 2-prong plug. The renowned “Hunt Amplification” in Phoenix, Arizona recently performed all of the electronic restoration. All electronic aspects of this amplifier are in 100% working order. EXTERIOR: Great overall used 74-year-old original, un-restored exterior condition. Exterior condition shows minor wear, discoloration and usage throughout the years. (Bottom lower front corners show some scuffs in the covering). Original aged brown leather carry handle. Vintage Zenith Stereo Hi-Fi 6BQ5 Tube Amplifier Model 4K21 – See Video. We tested a turntable with it, and it was also working. We tested the 6BQ5 tubes with a tube tester, and both tested below the minimum good value of 50 (tested at 46 and 44) and had shorts. The 12AX7 was tested right at the minimum value of 32. We did not test the 5Y3. The last photo of the tube diagram was from the console it came from and is not included, for reference only. Cosmetically, it is in good condition with light wear and some marks/stains on the face. The amplifier may need updating or repair, even though it was functional, due to its age. Please see all the photos. It has Stancor Power Transformer 95-1953, 20VAC, 50/60 Cycles, 1386226. It has 2 output transformers by Ensign Coil (95-1957-AR, 1726218). The face measures 13-1/8 x 6. This vintage Airline Tube Guitar Amp Model 9001B from the 1960s is a rare find for any musician. With only one speaker and one channel, this combo amp is perfect for an electric guitar. The only thing that is not original from what I can tell is one of the rubber feet and the bottom was replaced with a small rubber pad. It has a faint smell of mildew From many years ago, it has been in a drive safe place for a very long time! This amp has normal scuffs and marks from normal use, but as you’ll see nothing major. Unknown Vintage Tube Amplifier Heathkit? I don’t know who made this amp but it powers on and seems to work. As it heats up it has a smell to it. I know it’s better to slowly bring up tube amps so you don’t fry them so I just powered it on for about a minute to test it out. See pics and video demo. The volume and tone controls seem to work and on the the back the ohms are label on the speaker outputs. I only tested the “Tuner” input on the back.
For sale is a vintage Bogen PH10 Mono tube amplifier from 1949. This amplifier was actually pulled from a small console. The original amp in the console was removed and some point and replaced with this amp. The controls on this amp might have are extended on wires and ran to the top of the console. This is really one Sweet sounding amplifier! I was really surised and impressed it sounded when I hooked it up. Being multi-range it has Deep bass, Mellow bass (Nice), wide range and extended range which all work well as well as volume control. All I did to this was de-ox the controls and clean the amp up. It is working very very well now but will definitely need a recap. I pondered keeping this and fully restoring it as it just sounds so amazing. Comes with all tubes. This will be WELL packed and tubes will be packed separately.
EICO HF-81 Stereo Tube Amplifier with All Vintage Tubes, with EL84/6BQ5 in Output. Watch it in operation with music from Pro-Ject turntable on Youtube. All tubes are vintage and all included; some are Mullard etc. I provided some pictures to show the circuitry under the chassis. I plugged it in wall voltage of 120V and the amp worked fine and produced great and balanced music in both channels as shown in the video. Since this amp is very old, it may need services before daily use. At least, the new owner should have some professional to go over it. I did notice the following issues. The fuse holder is bit loose. At times, I had to re-tighten the fuse to power it up. The shaft of TREBLE control pot can be pushed in if you re-install the knobs on it. I inserted a small piece of hard foam behind it (inside the chassis) so it’s fixed, for now. I felt some of the contacts or wirings are not 100% secured. I once pulled out one tube shield and incidentally brushed on something (didn’t know what), causing the left channel silent. That channel recovered by itself a few minutes later. I couldn’t find out the cause. That’s why it’s very good idea to have a professional to service it so you can really enjoy it. Physical condition is really good for the age, much better than many others showed up for sale. The front is beautiful; all knobs are original. Chassis is pretty clean. Meshed cover is good. There may be some screws missing in the bottom plate. Overall, this is a beauty to me. I have other audio equipment, like.
