Although the unit works it does need some work to restore it to its full potential along with small work like the power cord on it is old, stiff, and cracking. I soldered and taped it for temporary purposes. The output was clean but highs were lacking and the lower end was present but not as clear as you’d expect. I used my fully functional SP-220 for testing. I do not have the cage and I also do not have enough tubes on hand to supply them for you as I need them for my other gear. The tubes in the pictures are just to demonstrate it is a working unit. None included The unit does have several marks and wear to the paint but the chassis and front and rear panels are free from damage or dents. Please use the photos and your knowledge and/or research of the unit or that of your personal tech or forums to ascertain the the overall restoration needs for the unit. My description is to the best of my knowledge but research on the buyers end before hand is expected as these are rare but there are a lot of experts out there to help you along. Vintage All Tube Audiophile Amplifier w Ceramic and Mag Phono. 115 / 230 Volts. Very Well Cared For. Comes with Original Manual. Tube Compliment: 12AX7 Audio – 7868 Power – 6AN8 Phase inv Driver – 6BA6, 6BE6, DA79, 0A70 Radio Tubes. UPDATE: From what I have read online about this amplifier, it was only offered in Japan and was heavily marketed towards military personal. This would explain its rarity in the United States and the multi-voltage switch on the back for 215 / 230 volts. It seems that only units brought back to the USA by USA military personal make up the current inventory in the States. This is how my friends Father acquired this unit. Up for sale is a piece of Pioneer history, the all vacuum tube SX-2000 receiver / amplifier. Made in Japan and very rare to find in this condition it uses three 12AX7 audio amplifier tubes, four 7868 power amp tubes and two 6AN8 phase inversion driver tubes. The sound is amazing and the the build integrity is impressive. To his knowledge it is 100% original besides a replaced tube many years ago. Can run on 115 and 230 volts. The amplifier powers on and the sound is clear and amazing!! All functions seem to be in excellent working condition. The phono section was tested with a Dual 1219 and it works great. The treble and bass controls work and the filter and loudness functions work. I could not get the FM stereo light to come on so that might need replacing. Normal signs of age for a vintage piece like some wear and scratches but overall in very good condition with no surprises or issues. Although it seems to work well this receiver may need to be gone over by a tech to check and measure the tubes and capacitors, I imagine it would sound even better with a full cap job. This Ampex “Fine Line” model 1250 reel-to-reel tape recorder still works and sounds great. It measures 15 inches by 13 inches by 6 inches, and original power cord and Ampex take-up reel are included. Exterior has been meticulously cleaned and is in good cosmetic shape, but does show some minor rust on the side edges of the steel faceplate. Record quality was very good, and all inputs and outputs have been tested and work without humming or noise. Video will open in a new window. Beautiful amp has never left home studio. Kept in a climate controlled, smoke and pet free environment. This amp has four el84 and four 12ax7. Brand new high quality Sprague and Illinois electrolytic Capacitors throughout the amp, professionally installed.. If your comparing prices take that into consideration. The original capacitors on mostly all the vintage clubs had some issues with overheating over time because of being located near the power tube sockets. So we replaced all the electrolytic capacitors as a preventative measure with high quality american capacitors. It will last another 30 years. Power tube socket solder joints were re flowed. These were some of things from my experience that needed attention almost always in these amps. Amp is ready to play. Vent grills look indented in the pictures, but have been removed and flattened and look perfect. As you can see by the pictures this amp is in beautiful condition. It wont last long at this price.
