No mid-fi, no gimmicks, no junk. Each piece of equipment is cosmetically restored and fully tested in our well-equipped lab by an engineer with 30+ years of experience in the HiFi world. Through our sister company, which is an authorized dealer for McIntosh, Audio Research, Sonus Faber, ClearAudio, Project, and Sony ES, we have access to OEM parts, service, and support. We’re pleased to offer this Super Rare 220V version of this American legend. Even rarer to find one in this chrome is simply gorgeous, and the paintwork is superb. Plus this vintage tube amplifier received a complete internal restoration, bringing it to better than factory specs and reliability, while delivering the original sound signature that McIntosh intended. We achieve this delicate balance by upgrading components that don’t affect the sound quality, while keeping the ones that do. If you live overseas and have wanted a McIntosh tube amp, this is the only way to avoid using an external voltage converter which tends to be a huge compromise. Plus this MC240 is fitted with a complete set of vintage tubes to boot! Configurable for 240V or 120V operation upon request. Includes a very high quality custom embroidered dust cover. Fully Restored: Power Supply was completely rebuilt with modern components. Select Resistors replaced on tag boards. All original red line Sprague difilm caps left in place, all high voltage Bumblebee caps replaced with Paper in Oil caps. Original Bumblebee input caps left in place. Because this unit has a 120/240 transformer, the 125V/117V AC Voltage selector switch was repurposed to act as a power On/Off switch. Telefunken 12AX7 Smooth Plate (V1 – The critical first tube shared between L/R Channels is perfectly balanced). Philips NOS JAN 5814 (Military Spec 12AU7 Sub). 6L6 – Current Production Tung Sol Reissue 6L6GC. The SkyFi Testing Process for Tube Amplifiers: We start with a visual inspection of all internal components to make sure there are no signs of stress or aging. Capacitors are checked for telltale sings of bulging or leaking, resistors are checked for signs of overheating or cracking, and tubes are inspected for signs of stress overheating or cracking. We then power up the unit carefully and run a simple 1k sine wave while monitoring the output on an oscilloscope for signs of distortion or noise. Finally we run the amplifier to its full rated power into the appropriate resistive load provided by our Sencore amplifier tester. If there is an issue, it will usually be noticeable at this point. If it all looks clean we will often test for THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) measured by our Keithley distortion meter, and compare it against the original manufacturers specifications. The amplifier the remains powered on to “burn in” on our test bench for a few hours to make sure there are no heat related issues. If there are balanced inputs available they will also be tested. We also test all tubes for output gain and leakage on our modern professional. Tester against the original manufacturers specifications. If needed, the tubes will be replaced from our vast NOS (New Old Stock) vintage or modern inventory. Final testing involves pushing actual music thorough the amplifier. We’ve learned over time that some issues are only noticeable to a trained ear while listening to familiar source material. Our test bench has reference vintage KEF speakers that we’re very familiar with which quickly reveal any discrepancies. Some amplifiers will then move into our listening room where they are tested with our in-house reference speakers of choice. If we dont have the original manufactures packaging, we use heavy duty double-ply corrugated boxes with custom made to your item Instapak expanding foam custom inserts. In many cases this has proven to be better than the original packaging! We also use high quality fiber reinforced tape to seal our packages. We have too many items for sale and its nearly impossible to keep track of offers outside of the official system. We accept trade-ins of equal or lesser value under certain conditions. Please visit our website to submit your gear for full consideration. We will only consider high-end equipment from mainstream manufacturers such as McIntosh, Mark Levinson, Audio Research, Krell, etc. And will typically pass on displays, projectors, receivers, dated surround processors, and mid-fi equipment of any type. We will offer a fair value for your equipment, but keep in mind were running a business and will need to be able to resell the equipment at a profit after investing a great deal of time and resources in testing, certifying, repairing, cleaning, and packaging the incoming equipment. SELL US YOUR GEAR (Working or Broken). Simply visit our website to submit your gear for full consideration. We are currently operating from our shop inside our dedicated building in Glen Rock, NJ. We have several well-equipped and dedicated listening areas, plus a dedicated listening studio with tons of equipment of all makes and models. Were not a store, so please dont make an appointment if youre just curious as to how a speaker or piece of equipment sounds. In essence – no tire kickers please. Up for sale is my Eico HF81 integrated amplifier. Great sounding vintage tube amp, good bass. I have owned and worked on 4 HF81s. Power supply capacitors changed (30uf film and F&T), along with other electrolytic caps and some important HV wires. New coupling caps throughout – inc. Russian K40Y PIO and Solen. Voltages are a bit high but within spec. 6 tube sockets were replaced. Tubes are mostly US, including great GE oval plate 6BQ5s. The “Focus” (balance) pot was bypassed with resistors (commonly done with these amps). Unnecessary amplifier separation switch on chassis removed from circuit. All original pots, clean and smooth. Has mostly older original parts and wires, but many new parts installed where needed. Case original and was resprayed a few years ago. Tarnish spots on chassis. Knobs are clean but have been lightly glued on. 3 useable inputs – 2 line and phono. Line input jacks are new but phono jacks are original. The phono section is not the last word in vinyl playback but it’s good. Some noises heard in selector switch when turned to unused inputs (it’s old). New speaker terminals, 4 and 8 ohm. Sounds like you hope it will – these amplifiers are legendary for a reason. It’s a beauty – just polished the brass face plate. A Special Amplifier for a Special Discriminating Owner. This McIntosh MC275 is from the 1960s and has been played and treated with the utmost care during its lifetime so far. One would be hard pressed to find another example in as lovely a condition as this amp. It has just now undergone a complete restoration from the countrys premier McIntosh Factory Restoration Center, Absolute Sound Laboratories in Minnesota www. Their work is not only electrically perfect but, as the last three photos in the series show, executed with exceptional craftsmanship and beauty. Absolute Sound Labs has been an authorized McIntosh Service facility since 1969. Recently, McIntosh has limited their own in-house factory servicing of older tube and early solid-state equipment. Absolute Sound Labs was selected as one of a very limited number of McIntosh Service Clinics to handle these issues. Absolute Sound Labs is proud to be so highly regarded by the McIntosh company. We have the necessary technical information, parts and test equipment to restore your McIntosh equipment to like-new condition. A detailed description of their restoration process is presented on their website and includes. Removal of any non-factory modifications to restore the equipment to the condition it was initially designed so that a restoration can be started. Replacement of all electrolytic capacitors with Panasonic FC Gold or Nichicon UUV or UUW, 105 degree devices. Replacement of all coupling capacitors with Panasonic or Secor metal, poly type capacitors. Replacement of all compensating capacitors with Panasonic, Nichicon or Secor Polyfilm devices. Replacement of active semiconductors, where applicable, with new, updated OEM style devices. These devices are specified by several design engineers, such as James Bongiorno, who have experience in the design of audio equipment. Replacement of any other devices deemed to be out of specification. All circuit boards are cleaned of excess rosin and contaminates using industrial grade printed circuit board chemicals to insure the best possible operation of the circuitry. The complete interior is cleaned to remove dust and other collected matter. All mounting screws, where electrical conduction is used, are replaced with new screws to eliminate any possible or intermittent circuit problems caused by oxidation or other contaminates. All applicable adjustments, i. Balance, offset and bias are set to applicable factory specifications where applicable. All cosmetic parts are removed and cleaned, using an ultrasonic cleaning process and/or various, special, industrial cleaning products. Where applicable, panel assemblies and cabinets are sealed in a commercial ultra-thin, clear, unique Hydrophobic Polymer compound to insure that additional deterioration of lettering and detail is minimized. The unit is then re-assembled and all functions are verified to ascertain full functionality. The unit is then placed into a burn-in period which varies from 24 to 48 hours, depending on the type of equipment. Certain equipment is also operated on our Cycler for more intensive burn-in. After burn-in the equipment is then re-assessed to insure that all adjustments and alignments are correct and have not changed. In both operations all replaced, defective parts and a detailed explanation of the work performed are supplied to the Client for the Client’s inspection and review. The technician who restored this amp commented that this is the nicest, cleanest MC275 hed seen in years and that hed rate it a 9/10. There is the normal deterioration of the chrome along the creases in the metal chassis that plagues all Mac amplifiers of this vintage, some lettering on the rear panel has been rubbed off, and a very minor scratch exists on top of one of the transformers. The lettering on the front panel is 100% perfect. Electrically and mechanically it is definitely a 10/10 having had the restoration work done and is good to go for another twenty or thirty years of flawless performance. Included is a lovely selection of audiophile tubes that have plenty of life remaining. Thank you for looking and considering this exemplary McIntosh MC275! In the Navy I went to school, studied and. Worked as an Aviation Electrician repairing and servicing military aircraft. Now that I’m retired, I still love to tinker with electronic and mechanical. Several radios, record players, amplifiers, and color wheels that I will be restoring over the next several years. My goal is to make these old, vintage. Devices function like new again. They sure don’t make-em like they used to. This is a very special record player that will be packaged with care and consideration to make sure it arrives as described to its new owner. Check out Ampstack on Facebook. Selmer PA 100/6 S. Six channels, two reverb, two high impedance with the echo loop, two plain. The reverb is built in, the echo is a loop needing an external unit. This is a really serious device, really heavy, lot of iron, with a choke. Fully serviced and recapped. Pictured without valves as back ordered, but biased up for a set I have about, or can do a deal unvalved. Obviously this is a heavy lump, but I can have it couriered, would massively prefer collection though. The item “Selmer PA 100/6 S. V.
