Late 60′s or early 70′s Lafayette tube amp head, made in the USA by Univox. Missing it’s 2-6L6 and 1-12AX7 tubes and has a blown fuse. Inside looks clean with no obvious burnt parts. This amp has been sitting on a shelf for the past 16 years untouched. I finally decided to see if it worked. I first tested all the tubes and found that they are all well into the “GOOD” area of my tube tester. I ramped up the voltage over 12 hours. All controls are silent. As a preventive measure I treated all controls with Caig Labs. I will say that the BRIGHT input definitely has a major effect. This amp is billed as a BASS amp. I did a lot of net research and many people agree that any guitar will work just fine. It has the original heavy duty 9 foot AC cord. It was also noted that this amp evidently is somewhat rare and very desirable. I was a bit shocked when I removed it from the carton it was stored in. This puppy is unbelievably clean. The paint is bright and gleaming. I did not see ANY wear around the volume control knob. That seems to indicate, at least to me, that it was not abused in any way and probably saw relatively little use. This amp does NOT have any housing/case. The transformers on this puppy are massive. Lots of headroom I imagine. I played some hardrock through it for many hours and the transformers didn’t even get warm. This obviously is a beautiful unit. I will tell you the negatives. Two of the tubes had wire springs on the 9 pin tubes to keep them in place. The spring wires are missing. At some point two of the four 6L6GC tube sockets were replaced with white ceramic sockets. I would have replaced all four. They are readily available and certainly easy to replace. I checked the bias voltage and it was right on at -29.5 volts. I think it would be quite a task finding another U-1061 in this condition. MEASUREMENTS: The measurements of the amp itself are 22x11x9 inches. If this is of concern I encourage you to read some of the comments in my feedback profile. I do NOT sell junk. I have packaged this amp up extremely well. This is a very heavy beefy unit weighing 35 pounds by itself and weighing 44 pounds all boxed up. I removed all the tubes and packaged them in an enclosed separate carton for safety. 11/22 edit – I raised the price on this great amp. Just got it out and used for recording. Sorry for those watching at a lower price, but you should have jumped! Meteor amp is basically a Uni-vox U-45 tube amp. Killer vintage small amp break-up. 2 channels and a hard ticking tremelo. Pretty sure amp is in all original condition with exception to tubes. The wiring is immaculate. EL 84 and 12 ax7 based tube complement. Exact chart of tubes can be seen in gut-shot pic. There are some nicks in the cabinet tolex, but nothing out of the ordinary for an amp of this age. Tremelo ticks hard, but is a tad temperamental. Could probably use a modest tune-up, and a change of the two prong power cord. I took a short video on you tube. Thats good for both of us! The US recently recently relaxed Rosewood restrictions, but each country is different. I do not have the CITES paperwork. No items have been lost yet! Unless agreed upon by me. I will not claim a lower price than the sale price. This will probably never occur, but just in case, you now know. I keep things I need/love, then sell them to you to keep the process going. Used in very clean condition Univox U255 Vintage Tube combo Amp Dual with 12 inch speakers in vertical tall cabinet. These Amps are not known to be very loud, but do have very sweet or dirty tone as dialed in.. The preamp tubes are 2-12AX7, 1-12AT7. The output tubes are 2- 6973 which reissue tubes are available. Up for sale, a 1965 Univox Model 10 tube combo amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Incredibly rare with very little documentation available, this particularly early Japanese-made Univox combo comes with a stock Jensen C12R speaker and a pair of 6AQ5 power tubes. Sonically, this amp has a rich, warm character that overdrives nicely with a churning response. Not overly bright at any setting, the amp works well with single coils in particular to provide a bit of extra cut and bite. The simple controls consist of a Volume knob, Tone knob, and a Speed control for the Tremolo effect, which can be engaged via footswitch. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced and recapped as needed, and the original transformers and pots are intact. The tube compliment consists of two 12AX7s in the preamp, a pair of 6AQ5 power tubes, and a 6X4 rectifier. The ostensibly original Jensen C12R has a speaker has a clean black frame, small foil sticker on the ceramic magnet, and date code from the 13th week of 1965. Cosmetically, this amp is in good shape, with original two-tone gray and cream covering, gold sparkle grillcloth, leather handle, and Univox badge on the front. The clean control panel contains clean silkscreen graphics and a trio of stock barrel knobs. There is modest wear on the enclosure edges, yet overall this extremely rare Univox amp presents very well. Vintage 1960′s Univox grey tweed guitar tube amp with matching tremolo pedal- one 12 inch Jensen special design speaker, 5 tubes. Volume, tone, tremolo speed with pedal, guitar & aux inputs, everything works. The cabinet looks good with standard wear, no tears in the grillcloth. The front wood has standard wear, wood chips and a little fraying of the cloth on the bottom. The univox name has long been missing but my expert vintage amp repair man identified it. Very cool working tube amp from the 60′s with a great vintage look. There is a nice demo of one on youtube under Univox test, it is a 26 second clip with also some specs.
