A vintage tube amplifier from what I believe is a Guild New Englander console stereo! The tube amp doesn’t have all of its tubes but there are some here. Some wiring is cut. There are a few tubes here, but a few are missing. There are scuffs, scratches, and stains scattered about. Will come as shown, so please see photos! This vintage Airline Tube Guitar Amp Model 9001B from the 1960s is a rare find for any musician. With only one speaker and one channel, this combo amp is perfect for an electric guitar. The overall condition of the amp is really good for its age. It sounds really good. The only thing that is not original from what I can tell is one of the rubber feet and the bottom was replaced with a small rubber pad. It has a faint smell of mildew From many years ago, it has been in a drive safe place for a very long time! This amp has normal scuffs and marks from normal use, but as you’ll see nothing major. Vintage Roberts/AKAI 990 Left and Right Tube Amplifier – 6BQ5. The amplifiers were tested in the reel-to-reel recorder, and both powered on. We tested both the left and right amplifiers using a microphone. The left amplifier and VU meter functioned properly with good output. However, we were unable to get the right amplifier working and were unsure whether it was connected incorrectly or if there were other issues. The tubes were tested using a Hickok TV-7/U tube tester-see below for test results. Cosmetically, the unit is in good condition with some light wear and dust. Please review all photos for details. The tubes tested as follows. Left Amp : 6BQ5 – 50 min. Value 50; 6AR5 – 78 min. Value 40; 12AD7 – Triode 1: 38, Triode 2: 42 min. Value 32; 6267 – 27 min. Right Amp : 6BQ5 – has shorts, tested 42 min. Value 50; 12AD7 – Triode 1: 46, Triode 2: 46 min. Value 32; 6267 – 22 min. The 6X4 tubes were not tested. The amplifiers each measure 12.5 x 5.5 x 5. Combined weight is 18 lbs 10 oz.
Ok one of the original knobs is missing the one to the far right, I replaced it with a different knob, I do not play guitar but I’m good with electronics, all functions appear to be working tubes light up unit plays with a guitar plugged in but like I said I do not play so I can not speak on to how it sounds vs another amp. I used deoxit on all the pots. I did nothing else to the unit. The face plate could probably be cleaned to perfection if desired, cabinet is in good shape for its age. I’m sure that the whole setup could use some sort of maintenance but it all looks to be working from what I could tell.
